The price of local government: Village of Lemont

The Village of Lemont budget was $26.43 million for its 2015 fiscal year, or $4,231.57 per household.

That's an increase of 14.7 percent from 2014, when the village spent $23.04 million, or $3,688.86 per household.

Lemont has 6,246 households and a population of 16,861.

Since 2001, the Village of Lemont budget has grown by 16.5 percent, from $22.69 million. The village population has grown 28.7 percent over the same period, from 13,098.

Salaries accounted for 21.1 percent of village spending in 2015. Lemont property taxpayers paid $5.58 million for 65 full-time employees and 63 part-time employees.
