The price of local government: Village of Worth

The Village of Worth budget was $12.43 million for its 2015 fiscal year, or $3,400.85 per household.

That's a decrease of 2.9 percent from 2014, when the village spent $12.81 million, or $3,502.81 per household.

Worth has 3,656 households and a population of 10,846.

Since 2001, the Village of Worth budget has fallen by 16.1 percent, from $14.81 million. The village population has fallen 1.8 percent over the same period, from 11,047.

Salaries accounted for 31.4 percent of village spending in 2015. Worth property taxpayers paid $3.91 million for 32 full-time employees and 42 part-time employees.

In 2001, the village had 60 full-time employees and 40 part-time employees, and spent $4.27 million.
