East Hazel Crest Fire Department responded to 42 calls in 2017 - 12.5 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in East Hazel Crest included 20 fires - 14 structure fires, four vehicle fires and two other fires.

In all, the department saw $346,050 in fire loss - or about $17,303 per fire.

The department also received 22 false calls.
