City of Burbank City Council met January 22

City of Burbank City Council met Jan. 22.

Here is the agenda provided by the council:

The meeting of January 22,2020 was called to order at7:30 PM by Mayor Dan M. Foy in the Council Chambers at 6530 West 79th Street Burbank, Il.

Mayor Foy requested a roll call which indicated the following members present: Alderwoman Barb Gagle, Alderman Robert Contreras, Alderwoman Sheri Gustafson, Alderman John Pacella, Alderman Mitchell Piznarski, Alderman Jason Pyle, Mayor Dan M. Foy, Clerk Barry J. Szymczak, Treasurer Dean Viverito and City Attorney Vince Cainkar.

Mayor Foy then asked all to rise for the Pledge of Allegiance.

Alderman Contreras made a motion seconded by Alderman Pacella to approve the minutes of January 8,2020. The motion was unanimously approved by voice vote and so declared by the Chair.

Alderman Contreras then made a motion seconded by Alderman Piznarski to approve the current list of bills. A roll call indicated 6 Ayes and 0 Nays. Voting Aye: Alderwoman Gagle Alderman Contreras, Alderwoman Gustafson, Alderman Pacell4 Alderman Piznarski and Alderman Pyle'

Mayor Foy asked for a motion to appoint Claude Haerr as Alderman of the 4th Ward of the City of Burbank. Mr. Haerr will be serving the unexpired term of the late Alderman James Grider. The motion was made by Alderman Pyle and seconded by Alderwoman Gagle. A roll call indicated 6 Ayes and 0 Nays. Voting Aye: Alderwoman Gagle, Alderman Contreras, Alderwoman Gustafson, Alderman Pacella, Alderman Piznarski and Alderman Pyle. Mr. Haerr was sworn in by City Clerk Barry Szymczak. Mayor Foy read a brief biography.

Mayor Foy then asked for a motion to appoint Christopher Wiest as Commissioner to the Fire / Police Commission of the City of Burbank. Mr. Wiest will be serving the unexpired term of Commissioner Claude Haerr. The motion was made by Alderman Pacella and seconded by Alderman Piznarski. A roll call indicated 6 Ayes and 0 Nays. Voting Aye: Alderwoman Gagle, Alderman Contreras, Alderwoman Gustafson, Alderman Pacella Alderman Piznarski and Alderman Pyle. Mr. Wiest was sworn in by City Clerk Barry Szymczak.

Mayor Foy introduced Randy Cohn of McDonald's who made a presentation to the winner of the fund-raising competition between St. Laurence and Reavis High Schools. The first place prize of $1000.00 was awarded to Reavis High School and a runner-up prize of $500.00 was awarded to St.Laurence Hi gh School.

Mr. Cohn, along with det. Sgt. John Malacina and Chief Shore made a brief presentation on the upcoming Polar Plunge on March l't in which McDonald's will be donating 20o/o of their sales on February lgftfrom 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM to the Special Olympics Fund on behalf of the Burbank Police Department. Activities at the restaurant will take place during that time. Information on this project will be available on the city's website.

Mayor Foy then asked for a motion to adopt Resolution # l-l-20 adopting an anti-harassment policy for elected offrcials. The motion was made by Alderman Pyle and seconded by Alderman Contreras. A roll call indicated 6 Ayes and 0 Nays. Voting Aye: Alderwoman Gagle, Alderman Contreras, Alderwoman Gustafson, Alderman Pacella, Alderman Piznarski and Alderman Pyle.

Alderwoman Gagle made a motion seconded by Alderman Contreras to adopt Ordinance #2-l-20 amending Chapter 15, Traffic, Article XIII, Seizure and Impoundment of Motor Vehicles, Section 15-200, Definitions, of the Municipal Code for the City of Burbank. A roll call indicated 6 Ayes and 0 Nays. Voting Aye: Alderwoman Gagle, Alderman Contreras, Alderwoman Gustafson, Alderman Pacella, Alderman Piznarski and Alderman Pyle.

Alderman Contreras stated that the next meeting of the Midway Noise Abatement Council would be taking place on Thursday January 23'd at 6PM at Mayfield Banquets in Chicago.

The Chair recognized Charles Bandusky 8548 South Lavergne who complimented the Ciry on all of the recent new businesses opening up.

Mayor Foy then asked any Reavis students who need their government class forms signed to approach any of the City Officials at the adjournment of the Council meeting.

There being no further business, the Chair asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Alderman Contreras and seconded by Alderman Pacella with unanimous voice approval and so declared by the Chair.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:50P.M.
