East Hazel Crest Fire District responded to 71 calls in 2018 - 14.5 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in East Hazel Crest included 50 fires - 35 structure fires, 13 vehicle fires and two other fires.

In all, the department saw $115,250 in fire loss - or about $2,305 per fire.

The department also received 21 false calls.

One fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents.
