Village of East Hazel Crest Board of Trustees met Oct. 13.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Officials: Mayor Thomas A. Brown, Administrator Lazuka and Clerk Minnis

Roll Call: Trustees Forte, Keams, Johnson, Ewan, Wideman & Ortiz present.

Also present: PD Chief Janich; FD Deputy Mills, PW J.White, P. Newton, J. Hale and Cook Cty. Commissioner Donna Miller.

Invocation & Pledge. Silent invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Minutes: Trustees Ortiz and Keams made the motions to approve the minutes of the 9/22/21 regular meeting. All trustees were in favor. Mtn. carried.

Reports of Village Officials:

Mayor's Report: Mayor Brown introduced Cook County Commissioner Donna Miller. East Hazel Crest will be part of the 6th District starting in November. Ms. Miller will be up for re-election in 2022. Comm. Miller expounded on health car issues, the changes made in redistricting, and how it affects our Village. She gave out her ID cards to everyone.

1) Endorsement Agreement and Resolution 21-07 with the Village of Homewood for the Daly Group. Trustees Keams and Ortiz made the motions to adopt Resolution 21-07. Roll Call: all trustees voted aye. Motions carried.

Mayor Brown spoke of the Daly Group's presentation at today's public hearing meeting held in Chicago by the 11. Gaming Commission.

Sometime between now and mid January there will be a decision on who the Gaming Commission will award the Casino license.

Administrator's Report:

1) The Knights of Columbus request to canvas was removed from the Agenda

2) There were two bids for ditch regrading;

-H. Linden & Sons Sewer & Water. $43,583.00

-Steve Spiess Const $60,523.60

Trustees Keams and Johnson made the motions to approve the

Linden & Sons bid for $43,583.00 for ditch regrading on 172nd St. from Laflin to Loomis. Roll Call: all trustees voted aye, Mtn.carried.

Homeowners will be asked to cooperate with the ditch repairs. They will have one (1) year to pay for their culvert replacement.

Administrator's Report, cont'd.:

3) Street Patching update. There was only one (1) bid proposal received.

Trustees Keams & Wideman made the motions to reject the Gallagher Asphalt bid and to re-bid in Spring 2022. All trustees were in favor. Mtn. carried.

4) Administrator Lazuka said we may have to consider repairs to the PW's truck.

5) Gutter installation on the 1904 Building. Switched to contractor who had product to eliminate the threat of pooling in the rear of the building,. Two (2) low bidders could get product.

Clerk: Library presentation. Trustee Forte stepped forward and asked Library Board members Joan Hale and Zoe Ewan to join her in presenting a check for $1,000 from the EHC Library Board to the EHC Fire Department. Deputy Fire Chief Grant Mills accepted the check on behalf of the

EHCVFD to help defray costs of the Department's annual Halloween Party for the children of the Village on 10/31 /21.

Trustees Johnson and Wideman made the motions to open this segment of the Meeting to the public. All trustees were in favor. Mtn. carried. Time: 7:42 pm

Library Board member Joan Hale spoke of the contract for library services and what a savings it is for our residents.

CLOSE TO VISITORS

There being no other input from those present, Trustees Ortiz and Johnson made the motions to close this segment of the meeting to the public. All trustees were in favor. Mtn. carried. Time: 7:44 pm

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Streets: Tr. Forte had nothing to report.

Finance/License:

1) Trustees Johnson and Ortiz made the motions to approve all bills on the Claims Sheets dated 10/13/21 in the amount of $97,761.79. Roll Call: all trustees voted aye.

Motions carried.

SIGNS: Tr. Keams had nothing to report.

POLICE/FIRE: Tr. Ortiz.read the September, 2021 EHC Police Dept. Report. This report will be on file in the Clerk's office.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: none

NEW BUSINESS: none

Announcements:

-Adm. Lazuka distributed copies of the recently completed 2021 Financial Report to members.

-Deputy Fire Chief Mills noted the EHCVFD annual Halloween Party for Children will be on Sunday, October 31, 2021 beginning at 1 pm.

Tr. Keams spoke of some residents leaving their garbage cans out for days after the garbage has been picked up.
