Thornton Township, headed up by Township Supervisor Tiffany Henyard, was sued in Cook County Circuit Court today alleging violations of the Freedom of Information Act (“FOIA”) on several occasions.

The Edgar County Watchdogs had requested credit card statements and credit card purchase receipts for specific timeframes, mostly dealing with Henyard’s newly formed nonprofit corporation’s walk to Springfield and its accompanying flagrant abuse of power, public funds and property.

The requests were for credit cards used by Tiffany Henyard as we suspect she used those township credit cards to purchase items for her corporation’s walk to Springfield and unlawfully forced the township taxpayers into footing the bills.

The Township Trustees voted to pay them without regard to whether or not they were legally obligated to.

They should have reported her use of the cards over to the Cook County Sheriff or the Illinois State Police, especially if there were no receipts.

The Township refused to provide the records, for a variety of reasons – none of which are legitimate – even claiming they had no receipts “in their possession.”

They will now answer to the courts. More to follow.
