City of Harvey City Council met May 30.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Christopher J. Clark called the City of Harvey Regular Council Meeting to order Monday - May 30, 2023, at 7:09 p.m.

Mayor Clark asked City Clerk Rosa M. Arambula to call the roll of Council members. 

Present: Alderwoman Colby Chapman, Alderwoman Telanee Smith, Alderman Tracy Key, Alderman Dominque Randle-El, Alderman Tyrone Rogers, and Mayor Christopher J. Clark. 

Absent: Alderwoman Shirley Drewenski

Alderman Randle-El gave the Invocation and led the Pledge of Allegiance.

ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS FOR THE CITY OF HARVEY 

Old Business- None 

New Business-None 

Resolution #3041 A Resolution authorizing award and execution of contract to Specialty Consulting Inc. for the environmental assessment of the building at 15328 Wood St. Bid No. 2023-03-02, Not to exceed $5,700.

Alderman Randle-El made the motion to approve the Resolution.

The Motion was seconded by Alderwoman Smith.

Voting Aye: Aldermen Randel-El, Key, Rogers, Alderwomen Chapman, Smith.

Voting Nay: None

Abstain: None

Absent: Alderwoman Shirley Drewenski

MOTION CARRIED 

Resolution #3042 A Resolution authorizing award and execution of contract to Ryan's Plumbing 1, Inc. for the fire hydrant replacement project Bid No. 2023-03-01 Not to exceed $649,214.39.

Alderman Randle-El made the motion to approve the Resolution.

The Motion was seconded by Alderman Rogers.

Voting Aye: Alderman Key, Alderwoman Smith, Alderman Randle-El, Alderwoman Chapman, Alderman Rogers.

Voting Nay: None

Abstain: None

Absent: Alderwoman Shirley Drewenski

MOTION CARRIED 

Resolution #3043 A Resolution authorizing award and execution contract to Specialty Consulting Inc. for the environmental assessment of four buildings, Bid No. 2023-01-01.

Alderman Randle-El made the motion to approve the Resolution.

The Motion was seconded by Alderwoman Smith.

Voting Aye: Alderman Key, Alderwoman Smith, Alderman Randle-El, Alderman Rogers, Alderwoman Chapman.

Voting Nay: None

Abstain: None

Absent: Alderwoman Shirley Drewenski

MOTION CARRIED 

Resolution #3044 A Resolution approving and ratifying the execution of an administrative order on consent by and between the City of Harvey and United States EPA Region 5.

Alderwoman Chapman asked if there was a concern for the water in Harvey.

Mayor stated that this is just for maintenance. There is no impact of the quality of our water.

Alderman Randle-El made the motion to approve the Resolution.

The Motion was seconded by Alderwoman Smith.

Voting Aye: Alderman Rogers, Alderwomen Smith, Chapman, Alderman Randle-El. 

Voting Nay: None

Abstain: Alderman Key

Absent: Alderwoman Shirley Drewenski

MOTION CARRIED 

PUBLIC COMMENT: 

Resident Ryan R. Sinwelski commented on how the City of Harvey should keep its Historical buildings.

He stated that it is not more expensive to restore and reuse old buildings. He continued to say that they should be offered to developers who have good plans to put them back in service and to publicize the buildings.

Resident Ruby J. Donahue congratulated the Mayor, City Council, and the administration. She continued to say that there are several features that will be requested of each of the Elected Officials. Such as, Integrity, Transparency, Accountability, Vision, Visible, Viable, and Vitality.

Time Into Executive Session: 7:29 p.m. 

Alderman Rogers made the motion to go into Executive Session.

The Motion was seconded by Alderwoman Smith.

Voting Aye: Alderwomen Smith, Chapman, Aldermen Key, Randle-El, Rogers. 

Voting Nay: None

Abstain: None

Absent: Alderwoman Shirley Drewenski

Return From Executive Session: 8:36 p.m. 

Alderman Rogers made the motion to go into Executive Session.

The Motion was seconded by Alderwoman Smith.

MOTION CARRIED 

Voting Aye: Alderwomen Smith, Chapman, Aldermen Key, Randle-El, Rogers. 

Voting Nay: None

Abstain: None

Absent: Alderwoman Shirley Drewenski

MOTION CARRIED 

A representative from President Cook County Preckwinkle's office, Al Kindle, congratulated all elected officials. He stated that there would be reduced bus fares and transportation for residents. Mr. Kindle mentioned that there would be a free vaccines and chips for pets on June 10, 2023.

ADJOURNMENT: 8:41 p.m. 

Alderman Rogers made the motion to adjourn meeting.

The motion was seconded by Alderwoman Smith.

Voting Aye: Alderwomen Chapman, Smith, Aldermen Key, Randle-El, Rogers. 

Voting Nay: None

Abstain: None

Absent: Alderwomen Drewenski.
