As of July 23, at least 10,365 Hispanic residents of Cook County tested positive for the coronavirus according to numbers being reported to the Illinois Department of Public Health.
Illinois gathers all of the state’s COVID-19 data electronically. The reported cases and deaths will fluctuate as additional info is gathered. Chicago was home to one of the first known cases of COVID-19 in the US, as well as it’s transmission. The federal and state governments have taken turns criticizing the other on the handling of the response with Governor Pritzker at one point saying “He had giving up” on an adequate response from the federal government. The President responded saying “he’s not able to do what you’re supposed to be able to do as a governor, he has not performed well.”
