Commissioner Sean Morrison posted a series of tweets on February 2 and 3, 2026, criticizing what he described as improper protest actions and perceived double standards in political discourse.
On February 2, Morrison wrote: “It’s all grandstanding nonsense…”
The following day, he posted: ” but it’s ok for leftists… because …. Trump dont’cha know” on February 3, 2026.
Later that same day, Morrison expanded on his views regarding recent protest tactics. He stated: “This isn’t protest, it’s illegal vigilante behavior. Private citizens cannot stop cars, block roads, or run license plates. You don’t need permission from leftists activists to drive in America, and anyone stopping cars and running plates should be arrested before someone gets” on February 3, 2026.
Morrison serves as a commissioner in Cook County, Illinois. The region has seen various public demonstrations in recent years where protestors have blocked roads or attempted to engage with motorists directly—tactics which have drawn both support and criticism depending on the political context. Blocking traffic during protests is considered unlawful in many jurisdictions unless authorized by local authorities; law enforcement agencies typically advise demonstrators to follow established guidelines to ensure public safety.
