Evelyn Hawkins, a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother/great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away after a courageous battle with illness. Known for her kind heart, generous spirit, and unwavering strength, Evelyn touched the hearts of all who knew her with her compassion and selflessness.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter (“Dan”) Hawkins, of 53 years, and her son Jeffrey Hawkins, Evelyn is survived by her children: Denise, Wendy, Walter, Debbie, and Michael. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion in her grandchildren James, Nicole, Rebecca, Ashley, Andrew, Anthony, Paige, Sean, Britney, Kaila, Tyler, Haiden, Nathan, Owen, and Nali, along with great-grandchildren Baylee, Mason, and Vinny.

Evelyn is also survived by her siblings Phyllis, Kenneth, and Wilda, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who held a special place in her heart.

A memorial service to honor Evelyn will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Maher Funeral Home in Tinley Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in Evelyn’s memory are appreciated at Lightways Hospice and Serious Illness Care in Joliet, IL.

Evelyn will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her kindness and resilience that shone through her life.
