FOIA Request to City of Burbank Regarding Newly Registered Businesses on May 7, 2025.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, South Cook News has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Burbank. We are seeking access to records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, specifically requesting a list of businesses registered with the city from the previous week. The requested information includes several key details such as Business Name, Business Number, Business Type, Business Address, Issued Date, Status, and Registered Agent Name.

This request is part of our ongoing efforts to hold public institutions accountable and ensure transparency in government actions. As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe that access to these public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. Additionally, given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have requested a fee waiver as media professionals.

Our request is supported by The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Missouri Corporation dedicated to assisting news media companies and public advocacy groups in investigating state and federal governmental agencies. This coalition leverages Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws to promote transparency and inform the American electorate.

We look forward to receiving the requested information and continuing our mission to provide valuable insights into local governmental affairs.
