FOIA Request to City of Hometown Regarding Newly Registered Businesses on May 7, 2025.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at South Cook News have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Hometown. Our request seeks access to records concerning businesses registered with the city over the past week. Specifically, we are requesting a list that includes details such as Business Name, Business Number, Business Type, Business Address, Issued Date, Status, and Registered Agent Name.

This information is vital for us as members of the media in our role of gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to these public records is essential for holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency. We believe that by disseminating this information, we can better inform the public and contribute to a more transparent governmental process.

In line with our mission and our affiliation with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy—a non-profit organization dedicated to leveraging Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws—we have requested a fee waiver. This will aid us in our ongoing efforts to investigate state and federal governmental agencies effectively.

We look forward to receiving these records promptly and continuing our work in informing the American electorate about important local government actions.
