There were 23 offenders convicted of crimes involving weapons released on parole in Dolton during the second half of 2019, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the South Cook News.

The data shows that 23 men were among the parolees. Of the parolees sentenced for crimes involving weapons, one is a veteran, and the median age is 32. The youngest parolee was a 19-year-old man sentenced in 2019, and the oldest was a 57-year-old man sentenced in 2014.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Darryl M. Collins. He was convicted of a crime involving one or more weapons in 2010 when he was 20 years old. He is now 30.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
