Oak Lawn – Laverne Olsen (née Cassidy), a lifelong resident of Oak Lawn, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at the age of 98, surrounded by family. Born to Joseph and Josephine Cassidy, Laverne was known for her resilience, grit, and sharp wit.
She is survived by her children Linda Fernandez, Laura (John) Felthouse, Lawrence (Almeeda) Olsen, and Leigh (Greg) Peterson, along with numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Laverne worked at Ridgeland Foods and Norridge Cleaners, and enjoyed activities like crocheting, sewing, and caring for loved ones. She was remembered for her honesty, strong will, and memorable personality.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025, from 3:00 – 8:00 PM at Hann Funeral Home in Bridgeview, IL. Additional visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, with a prayer service at 11:00 AM followed by interment at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery. Laverne will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
