Myrtelina Rodriguez, 86, of Oak Forest, Illinois, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2025. Born on February 12, 1939, in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico, Myrtelina dedicated her life to uplifting others as an educator and advocate. Known for her fierce spirit and love for family, she left a legacy of courage and inspiration.

Myrtelina obtained her master’s degree in counseling and education from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras campus. Her career was marked by a commitment to championing marginalized communities and ensuring their voices were heard. To those around her, she was more than a teacher – she was a protector and beacon of hope.

She is survived by her daughter, Millicent, husband Sam, grandchildren Alex, Sara, Marcelo, Danny, great-grandchildren Benji, Isla, Neema, brother Melvin Rodriguez, niece Marta, and their children. She will be deeply missed and always remembered for her strength, boldness, and love that enriched the lives of all who knew her.
