The Park Forest Board of Trustees will address several economic development and operational matters during its regular meeting on April 6 at Village Hall.

The agenda includes a final reading of an ordinance that would change the village’s liquor license limits to allow for a new bar, Libations, at 311 Main Street. The applicant, Antonio Burgess, currently runs a tavern in Phoenix and is seeking a Class A license to open the new establishment in Park Forest.

Trustees are also set to review support for a Cook County Class 6B tax incentive aimed at retaining Champion Silk Screen and Embroidery, which has operated locally since 1989 and employs 13 people. This incentive would provide reduced property tax assessments in exchange for commitments such as payment-in-lieu-of-taxes and community benefits. Other items include awarding contracts for roofing work under the South Suburban Trades Initiative program, purchasing new parks equipment valued at about $60,700, renewing landscape maintenance contracts totaling more than $86,000, approving emergency water main repair payments from January, and considering construction permitting on state highways.

Additional topics involve accepting approximately $45,600 from a legal settlement related to municipal bond overcharges and authorizing disposal of surplus village property including vehicles and equipment. The board operates under a council-manager government structure with six trustees and a mayor according to the official website.

Village officials have promoted community health through dedicated commissions and programs according to the official website. Park Forest has also received recognition for its sustainability efforts in town planning according to the official website, supports climate protection agreements according to the official website, aims to strengthen local economic conditions through collaboration according to the official website, and provides educational opportunities via its Civic Leadership Academy according to the official website.

The board meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at Village Hall located at 350 Victory Drive.
