Blue Island – Ralph Henry Amato Jr., 86, passed away on July 29, 2025. Born on September 8, 1938, in Blue Island, IL, he was the son of the late Ralph and Angeline Amato.

Preceded in death by his devoted wife, Sharon Rose Amato, in April 2025, with whom he shared 60 loving years of marriage. He is survived by his children Joni (Wayne) Miller, Shawn (Rose) Amato, and Tina Amato Stover (Floyd). Ralph leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was the dear brother of Patricia, Barbara, and the late Marlene.

Ralph was an All-State Champion wrestler and football player at Eisenhower High School. He proudly served in the United States Army after graduation.

A hardworking entrepreneur, Ralph co-owned a scavenger business with his father in Blue Island and was a dedicated flea market vendor. In his leisure time, he found solace in nature through hiking, fishing, and camping. A man of simple pleasures, he enjoyed unwinding with a glass of wine or a cold beer at the end of the day. His legacy of love, hard work, and appreciation for life’s simple joys will endure in the hearts of all who knew him. Cremation was held privately.
