Palos SD Policy Committee discusses expenses

The Palos School District 118 Board of Education Policy Committee met on Jan. 12 to discuss expenses.

January 12, 2017

I. CALL TO ORDER. Pam Paris, Chairperson, called the Policy/Evaluation Committee meeting of January 12, 2017 to order at 9:05 a.m.

II. ROLL CALL. Members Present: Pam Paris, Chairperson, Terry Heafey, Vice Chairperson; Cathy Maier. Others present: Anthony Scarsella, Superintendent.

III. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE. Mrs. Paris led the Pledge of Allegiance.

IV. RECOGNITION OF REGISTERED VISITORS. There were no registered visitors.

V. POLICY UPDATE. Dr. Scarsella briefed the Committee on various policy update recommendations. Chairperson Paris recommended that all updates be sent to the full Board for consideration.

The Policy committee recommends that a first reading of these policies be presented to the board at the January 17, 2017 meeting with a recommendation to move the policies to the second reading and board action at the February regular meeting. An explanation of the changes in the policies was presented, and the new and existing policies were provided to the board for comparison.

The following policies were considered by the committee:

2:125 Board Member Expenses

5:60 Expenses

7:225 Education Stability of Foster Care Students

3:40 Superintendent

1:30 School District Philosophy

VI. ADJOURNMENT. A motion was made by Mrs. Maier and seconded by Mr. Heafey to adjourn the meeting at 9:35 a.m.
