Orland Park has named Joe La Margo interim village manager and Karie Frilling interim assistant village manager, the village announced recently.
La Margo, formerly the assistant village manager, replaces Paul Grimes, who left the post last summer. Frilling is taking La Margo's vacated post.
"Joe and Karie will be a great team running the daily operations of the village until the board hires a permanent village manager," Mayor Dan McLaughlin said. "They've both done a great job in their respective positions, and the village is lucky to have them."
Police Chief Tim McCarthy had been filling in as village manager but requested that the board appoint an alternate interim manager so that he could return to his police administration duties on a full-time basis. The board approved both La Margo and Frilling in unanimous votes.
“We were in the process of searching for a permanent village manager and were in advanced talks with a candidate,” Trustee Jim Dodge said. “We are looking forward to resuming the search for a permanent village manager once Mayor-Elect Keith Pekau is sworn in so he can be a part of the process.”
