Tinley Park mayor seen in quick police station stop during controversial night

Tinley Park Mayor Jacob Vandenberg visited the Tinley Park Police station for less than a minute on the night of a recent Paul McCartney concert at which he was allegedly intoxicated, according to the Edgar County Watchdogs (ECW).

The government oversight group reported that several traffic officers said that Vandenberg was intoxicated at the concert, which he was driven to in a party bus. He allegedly interfered with the officers’ work, moving cones to allow his bus through and exclaiming that he was the mayor.

A FOIA request after the incident asked for any footage of the mayor, presumably looking for body cam or dash cam footage of the events at the concert venue. The police instead provided a video that shows Vandenberg entering the station at 1:10 a.m. and leaving at 1:11 a.m., the ECW posted on their Illinois Leaks website.

The ECW notes several strange things about the footage. First, approximately one and a half minutes of footage are missing prior to Vandenberg's entry into the station, as are nine seconds after his departure. The group speculates that it is possible Vandenberg drove to the station in a car that appears before he enters and leaves after he departs.
