The calls in Blue Island included 54 fires - 26 structure fires, 11 vehicle fires and 15 other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.
In all, the department saw $735,220 in fire loss - or about $13,615 per fire.
The department also received 254 false calls, including two malicious calls and 252 other false calls.
The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related injury. Additionally, one fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents.
The Blue Island Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has 20 active employees and 27 retired or inactive employees, was $852,747 in debt as of December 2015, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $15,792 for every fire in 2016.
