The calls in Calumet City included 148 fires - 88 structure fires, 17 vehicle fires and 40 other fires. The fire department also responded to three calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.
In all, the department saw $680,600 in fire loss - or about $4,599 per fire.
The department also received 711 false calls, including six malicious calls and 705 other false calls.
The Calumet City Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has 56 active employees and 51 retired or inactive employees, was $3,477,329 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $23,495 for every fire in 2016.
