Sauk Village FD responds to 42 fires in 2016

Sauk Village Fire Department responded to 236 calls in 2016, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System obtained by the South Cook News.

The calls in Sauk Village included 42 fires - 18 structure fires, nine vehicle fires and 15 other fires.

In all, the department saw $673,400 in fire loss - or about $16,033 per fire.

The department also received 194 false calls, including two malicious calls and 192 other false calls.

The Sauk Village Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has active employee and one retired or inactive employee, was $32,144 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $765 for every fire in 2016.
