Tinley Park VFD responds to 147 fires in 2016

Tinley Park Volunteer Fire Department responded to 709 calls in 2016, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System obtained by the South Cook News.

The calls in Tinley Park included 147 fires - 63 structure fires, 19 vehicle fires and 61 other fires. The fire department also responded to four calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $596,863 in fire loss - or about $4,060 per fire.

The department also received 562 false calls, including eight malicious calls and 554 other false calls.
