The Illinois State Rifle Association is urging members to be on hand for a Palos/Orland League of Women Voters gathering where they say the group will be “pushing to have all of your guns banned.”
In an alert sent to members, ISRA officials suggested members attend the Saturday meeting at the Palos Heights Public Library, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
“The League of Women Voters has had an anti-gun agenda for years, pushing for unilateral civilian disarmament, you know, the kind that leads to Holocausts,” ISRA said in the alert. “On their official websites, national and state, and local, they call for banning handguns, as being too small, and for banning your modern sporting rifle, because it's just right. We have heard that they are going after bolt action rifles next, because they are too big.”
ISRA officials are also urging members to spread the word to other law-abiding gun owners about the importance of being at the meeting and having their voices heard.
“All gun owners dedicated to preserving and protecting our heritage of safe, lawful, and responsible firearms ownership should plan on attending this meeting,” the alert said. “Be prepared to enthusiastically defend your constitutional rights.”
