Analysis: Calumet City pays $4.77 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Calumet City Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 82.7 percent of the $2,828,266 the Calumet City Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $4.77 for every $1 from pension members, according to a South Cook News analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Calumet City contributed $2,338,590 to the fund, which saw a $36,680 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $489,874, or 17.3 percent, in 2016.
