Analysis: Markham pays $3.38 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Markham Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 76.8 percent of the $492,250 the Markham Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $3.38 for every $1 from pension members, according to a South Cook News analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Markham contributed $378,155 to the fund, which saw a $31,464 decrease in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $111,668, or 22.7 percent, in 2016. Another $2,427 came from other unspecified sources.
