Report: Thornton spent $12,546 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Thornton School District 154 is up 6 percent from five years ago, according to a South Cook News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Cook County school district spent $11,820 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $12,546 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 226 to 240.

Thornton's spending in 2016-17 was 3 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
