Illinois residents paid $11,746 to attend the four-year public institution this year $1,230 more than the $10,516 charged for 2016-17.
Non-residents paid 79.9 percent more than residents this year, or $21,136. Their price tag grew 13.2 percent from $18,676 in 2016-17.
About 98 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Illinois residents. And about 2 percent are residents of other states.
Data shows 91 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 162 students received grants or scholarships totaling $1.3 million and 177 students took out student loans totaling more than $1.1 million.
Including all undergraduates, 1,620 students used grants or scholarships totaling $9.75 million. Another 2,630 took out $29.73 million in federal student loans.
