Burbank FD responds to 92 fires in 2017

Burbank Fire Department responded to 466 calls in 2017 - 9.5 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Burbank included 92 fires - 48 structure fires, 10 vehicle fires and 34 other fires. The fire department also responded to four calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $519,050 in fire loss - or about $5,642 per fire.

The department also received 370 false calls, including nine malicious calls and 361 other false calls.

The calls resulted in two civilian fire-related injuries.

The Burbank Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 28 active employees and 27 retired or inactive employees, was $16,360 positive as of December 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $159 for every fire in 2016.
