South Holland Fire Department responded to 572 calls in 2017 - 13.5 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in South Holland included 159 fires - 98 structure fires, 36 vehicle fires and 25 other fires. The fire department also responded to nine calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $565,770 in fire loss - or about $3,558 per fire.

The department also received 404 false calls, including 15 malicious calls and 389 other false calls.

Three fire service member were injured in non fire-related incidents.
