66 percent of applicants to Governors State University were admitted for fall 2017

At Governors State University, 51 percent of undergraduate students are nontraditional students - age 25 or older - and 63 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in University Park enrolled 5,185 students in fall 2017, including 3,326 in undergraduate and 1,859 in graduate programs, data shows. 21.9 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

98 percent of undergraduates are residents of Illinois, and 2 percent are residents of other states.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as Black or African American (40 percent) and white (32 percent).

The school admitted 66 percent of the 874 students who applied for fall 2017. Of those who were admitted, 35 percent enrolled.
