Park Forest Police today released the following community alert:

On Friday, August 10, at approximately 6:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 23400 block of Western Avenue in reference to a call of vehicular hijacking. Upon arrival, responding officers discovered that an adult female had been carjacked at gunpoint by two males.

On Saturday, August 11th, at approximately 4:50 p.m., officers again responded to the 23400 block of Western in reference to a call of vehicular hijacking. It was again determined that a female victim had been carjacked at gunpoint by two males.

The Park Forest Police Department Investigations Division is actively pursuing leads in these cases.

While it is unknown if these two incidents are related, in both incidents the suspects were described as black males in their late teens to early twenties. Park Forest Police want the community to be aware and take extra caution when entering and exiting your vehicle. The Chicago region has seen an increase in vehicular hijackings over the past year and Park Forest is not immune to these incidents. Awareness of your surroundings is always a good practice. Please do not hesitate to call police if you see someone acting in a suspicious manner. Anyone who has information about his incident is urged to call the Investigations Division at 708-748-1309.
