Atwood Heights School District 125 students suspended 16 times in a single school year

Atwood Heights School District 125 reported 16 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 16 students during the year. That equates to 2.4 percent of the 676 students enrolled.

Of the 15 in-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes eight incidents. There were six incidents of violence without physical injury. For 14 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes one incidents. For one incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
