Community Consolidated School District 146 students suspended, expelled 115 times in a single school year

Community Consolidated School District 146 reported one expulsions and 114 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 115 students during the year. That equates to 4.7 percent of the 2,427 students enrolled.

Students were expelled for one incident with violence without physical injury.

Of the 96 in-school suspensions, 79 were given to boys and 17 were given to girls, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 81 incidents. There were seven incidents of violence that caused physical injury. For 85 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 18 out-of-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 16 incidents. There were one incidents of violence without physical injury. For 10 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
