Lincoln Elementary School District 156 students suspended 232 times in a single school year

Lincoln Elementary School District 156 reported 232 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 232 students during the year. That equates to 22.3 percent of the 1,040 students enrolled.

Of the 192 in-school suspensions, 148 were given to boys and 44 were given to girls, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 192 incidents. For 171 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 40 out-of-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 37 incidents. There were two incidents of drugs. For 27 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
