Sandridge School District 172 students suspended, expelled 315 times in a single school year

Sandridge School District 172 reported one expulsions and 314 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 315 students during the year. That equates to 87 percent of the 362 students enrolled.

Students were expelled for one incident with unspecified reasons.

Of the 237 in-school suspensions, 157 were given to boys and 80 were given to girls, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 237 incidents. For 215 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 77 out-of-school suspensions, 60 were given to boys and 17 were given to girls, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.
