Retired Consolidated HSD 230 employee Marie Bieganowski saved $13,040 toward her pension over 10 years working for public schools, Illinois Teachers' Retirement Fund (TRS) records show.
Over 33 years of retirement, Bieganowski would collect as much as $927,000, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes South Cook News.
Bieganowski, 62, who currently lives in Grand Rapids, MI, earned $27,070 in her final year at Consolidated HSD 230.
The projection assumes Bieganowski will receive 57.9 percent of that total - $15,670 - in her first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.
After three years of retirement, Bieganowski will have already received $48,436 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of her contributions to the state teachers' pension fund.
ISBE reported that 58.2 percent of Consolidated HSD 230 graduates were deemed "college ready" last year.
