City of Hometown City Council met September 25.

Call to Order: The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Hometown was called to order by Mayor Kevin Casey on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 8:00 p.m.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Alderman Grochowski.
Roll Call: Roll call indicated that the following were present: Aldermen Zak, Kurysz, Smith, Banasiak, Barnhouse, Grochowski, Walsh, Reynolds and Finnegan.
Absent: Alderman Touchie Also present: Elizabeth Attard, City Attorney

Moved by Alderman Smith seconded by Alderman Walsh to approve as published the Journal of September 11, 2018 regular City Council Meeting.

City Attorney: Beth Attard had no report.
Police: Louis Dominguez, not present. Mayor Casey stated the Police Department took part in an active shooter exercise at the Oak Lawn Metra Station, we had 8 officers take part including the Chief. Everything is going well with the Police Department.
Public Works: Mark Trlak, Director, not present. Alderman Banasiak asked about the fire hydrants with bags over them. Mayor Casey explained that Public Works flushed hydrants annually and if they find some that need work they go out and seek prices for the repair. This year someone told them to cover the hydrants. You will see on today’s A/P we have already paid for half the bill. They have already repaired some of the hydrants.

Public Health & Safety: Michael Ringbauer, Director, not present.

Finance Committee:
Accounts Payable and Payroll September 25, 2018-
Moved by Alderman Touchie seconded by Alderman Smith to approve for payment the accounts payable vouchers in the amount of $67,973.49 and payroll vouchers in the amount of $50,203.29 for a total expenditure of $118,176.78

Alderman Robert Reynolds Chairman reported they met last Wednesday and discussed the Fall Fest and a Bus Trip to Lincoln Park Zoo.
Building Committee:
Alderman Brian Barnhouse, Chairman reported there will be a Zoning Board of Appeals Hearing on October 10, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. at the request of Todd & Jackie Sternberg of 4542 West 87th Place, they are appealing the denial of their garage permit. They want to build a 24x22 garage.
Alderman Brian Barnhouse reported the Zoning Board of Appeals acting as the Building Board of Appeals will hold a hearing October 10, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. at the request of Bill Fritz of 4635 West 88th Place, he is appealing the denial of his fence permit. He wants to erect a 6 ft. fence on his driveway from the garage to the front of the house.

Reports From Special Committees
Library: Alderman Grochowski Liaison reported they had the book sale, the circulation for August 2018 was 620, 2017 was 728. They have received over 31,000.00 in tax revenue. Head Librarian A. Selmeister attended the Back to School event for District 123.
Legislation: Alderman Spencer Touchie, Chairman absent.
Fire Department: Alderman Daniel Walsh, Liaison had no report.
Personnel Review: Mayor Kevin Casey, Chairman had no report.
Presentation Of Petitions, Communications Resolutions, Orders And Ordinances By Aldermen
Special Events: Alderman Grochowski reported the 9-11 Memorial Service had over 100 people, the Army Band played, thank you to the men and women from the VFW that attended and the Fire Protection District, Police
Department and American Legion. It was a very nice memorial event.
Health, Welfare & Community Events:Alderman Grochowski reported on several upcoming activities.
Unfinished Business: Alderman Grochowski stated she was approached by a few residents that are asking for another branch pick-up event. Mayor Casey stated he would talk to Director Trlak about one Monday in October.
New Business: None

Adjournment: Motion made by Alderman Reynolds, seconded by Alderman Kurysz to adjourn the regular meeting of the Hometown City Council.
