Village of Tinley Park issued the following announcement on Nov. 17.
The Village of Tinley Park recently received a $200,000 grant from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to perform resurfacing and rehabilitation of the ComEd bike path from 179th Street to just north of 163rd Street.
The project will involve resurfacing, restriping and patching of the entire length of the path. The Village will be required to provide $40,000 in matching funds.
The money comes from the Recreational Trails Program, a federal grant program that in Illinois is administered by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources in cooperation with the state’s transportation department. Under the program, the federal government reimburses up to 80 percent of a project’s cost to the local grant recipients, with the recipients paying for the rest.
