Park Forest Police Department issued the following announcement on Nov. 28.
Some of you may know that Officer Tim Jones won the first Best Beard Contest following our 2015 No-Shave November event to raise money for breast cancer research. Most of you know that Officer Jones was critically wounded in March of 2016 while apprehending an armed offender. Many of you know that, despite a grim prognosis, Officer Jones has defied odds and is continuing his fight and is working diligently on his recovery. All of you should know that Officer Jones' example as police officer serves as an example for young people everywhere.
As the ways to participate grow, and to honor Tim, we have renamed No-Shave November to TIMSTRONG November & December.
We are proud to announce that money raised through our 2018 TIMSTRONG November & December event will fund the Officer Timothy Jones Scholarship awarded to a Park Forest youth who will be majoring in Criminal Justice at any accredited college or university in the 2018-19 school year.
