Village of Tinley Park issued the following announcement on Dec. 20.
The Tinley Park Village Board honored two local students for outstanding achievement during yesterdays meeting at Village Hall.
The first student, Solomon Wilson-Smith, was recognized for winning the 2A Illinois State Championship 110-meter high hurdles for Tinley Park High School in May with a time of 13.98 seconds. Solomon is a four-time conference champion, three-year state qualifier, four-time sectional champion and four-time all-state athlete. He's also a two-year qualifier to the Illinois Prep Top Times indoor meet, where he placed third both years.
During the same meeting, the Board also recognized David Sedivy for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout in Frankfort Square Boy Scout Troop 237. David’s Eagle Project involved building, designing and installing a live display at Kids Works Children’s Museum in Frankfort. He worked for nine months on the project, which features large pieces of fruit, vegetables and flowers for children to play with and gain a better understanding of the origin of food.
A big congratulations to Solomon and David for their outstanding achievements!
