City of Oak Forest Veterans Commission met Jan. 17.

Here is the agenda provided by the commission:

1. Pledge of allegiance

2. Roll Call

3. Approval of Minutes

o All members present approved.

4. Liaison to the City Report Paul Selman:

5. OLD BUSINESS:

 ComEd Energy Efficiency Program partnering with the Chicagoland Vintage Home Association program for homes 50 years or older. Here is the web site to submit your application; https://www.chicagolandvintagehomes.org/apply. You do have to qualify.

 Joe Pilch finally applied and is getting insulation added in the attic and a new bathroom ventilation fan on January 31. They also clean the furnace and water heater igniter.

6. NEW BUSINESS:

 Trees decorations need to be picked up at Public Works garage.

 John Staszak athletic director; The Oak Forest Blue Demons baseball team will be playing in a 2019 Memorial Day tournament. Their coach has asked us to provide names of KIA service members for the special uniforms. See the picture at the end of this document. He wants to put the players in direct contact with the families in a pen pal arrangement to make sure the boys understand the sacrifices that the families have made.

o All commission members need to make contacts with organization to get names.

 T-shirts from “The Wall That Heals” are still available.

 Anything for the good of commission or veterans? Once around the table.
