Report: Thornton spent $12,171 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Thornton School District 154 is up 0.5 percent from five years ago, according to a South Cook News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Cook County school district spent $12,112 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $12,171 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 225 to 254.

Thornton's spending in 2017-18 was 8.7 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
