ILLINOIS' 36TH STATE HOUSE DISTRICT: Rep. Kelly Burke Responds to Pritzker Budget Address

Budget 04

Illinois' 36th State House District issued the following announcement on Feb. 21.

After Governor J.B. Pritzker presented his budget proposal to the Illinois General Assembly, state Rep. Kelly Burke, D-Oak Lawn, released the following statement:

“After four years of devastation to our state’s schools, social service agencies and working families under the Rauner administration, the optimistic budget address that Governor Pritzker shared today is a breath of fresh air.

“As an assistant majority leader, I’m looking forward to working with my Democratic and Republican colleagues to negotiate a budget that maintains our commitment to fully funding education and helps our state universities rebuild after years of neglect. I believe we can pass a balanced budget that will help our state recover from the budget crisis. By moving forward with Governor Pritzker’s proposal to implement a graduated income tax we will have the ability to lower the tax burden for middle-class families in the future.”

Burke serves the 36th Representative District, which contains parts of Chicago’s Beverly, Mt. Greenwood and Auburn-Gresham neighborhoods and portions of Evergreen Park, Oak Lawn, Chicago Ridge, Palos Heights, Palos Hills, Palos Park, Willow Springs and Worth. For more information, please contact Burke’s district office at 708-425-0571 or email kburke@kellyburkerep36.org.
