COMMENTARY: Illinois state and federal elected officials’ positions on current abortion legislation

Deluca

State Rep. Anthony DeLuca (D-Chicago Heights)

State Rep. Anthony DeLuca (D-Chicago Heights)

As our State of Illinois Democrats are vying to pass four abortion bills that would, for all intents and purposes, allow abortion throughout all nine months of pregnancy, for any reason, for any age girl, without a parent’s knowledge, by people who don’t have to be physicians, in places that don’t have to be inspected for cleanliness, and mistakes that don’t have to be reported, I would like to know how my state representative, Anthony DeLuca (D), District 80, who identifies as a Catholic, and voted for the last abortion expansion in Illinois, is planning on voting.

I would also like Rep. DeLuca to give his opinion on the absurdity that a 12 year old girl cannot even be given a Tylenol at school for a headache without first having parental consent; yet, these pending abortion bills would now allow for that same 12 year old girl to get an abortion, without her parent even knowing she were pregnant, and then not knowing she had an abortion.

U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) and U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL)

I would think that most parents – even our state reps – would want to know if their 12 year old daughters were sexually active, let alone, sexually active and now pregnant, and would want to be the first and foremost person in their daughters’ lives to help them in this difficult situation.

Also, our two Illinois U.S. senators Dick Durbin and Tammy Duckworth just voted against the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act (S. 130), which would have provided medical care to babies who are born alive after an abortion.

How sick is this? Especially Durbin who also identifies as a Catholic.

Here’s a sad realistic scenario: two babies are born. One mother was looking forward to her baby’s birth. The other mother procured an abortion. One baby gets medical care after birth; the other one doesn’t. One baby is placed in his mother’s arms; the other baby is “made comfortable” as the adults in the room watch this baby die because the “choice” that was contracted for is what needs to  be delivered, but it didn’t work out that way, so the medical adults in the room have to deliver on their promise, so they let the born alive baby, now outside the womb, not physically connected to the mother, just lay there until he or she dies.

Senators Durbin and Duckworth, do you know how many couples who themselves are not able to have children, would love to adopt these born alive aborted babies? I’m sure the adoption agencies in our state would be happy to send you a list.
