The price of local government in 2017: Village of Burnham

The Village of Burnham budget was $5.37 million for its 2017 fiscal year, or $4,192 per household.

That's an increase of 2.1 percent from 2016, when the village spent $5.25 million, or $4,105 per household.

Burnham has 1,280 households and a population of 4,401.

Since 2001, the Village of Burnham budget has grown by 12.3 percent, from $4.78 million. The village population has grown 5.5 percent over the same period, from 4,170.

Salaries accounted for 29.8 percent of village spending in 2017. Burnham property taxpayers paid $1.60 million for 15 full-time employees and 27 part-time employees.

In 2001, the village had 18 full-time employees and 24 part-time employees, and spent $686,191.
