The price of local government in 2017: Village of Justice

The Village of Justice budget was $11.78 million for its 2017 fiscal year, or $4,110 per household.

That's a decrease of 12.2 percent from 2016, when the village spent $13.42 million, or $4,680 per household.

Justice has 2,867 households and a population of 12,844.

Since 2001, the Village of Justice budget has grown by 61 percent, from $7.32 million. The village population has grown 15.2 percent over the same period, from 11,151.

Salaries accounted for 31 percent of village spending in 2017. Justice property taxpayers paid $3.66 million for 32 full-time employees and 15 part-time employees.

In 2001, the village had 55 full-time employees and 48 part-time employees, and spent $2.50 million.
