The price of local government in 2017: Village of Lemont

The Village of Lemont budget was $13.84 million for its 2017 fiscal year.

That's a decrease of 46.6 percent from 2016, when the village spent $25.92 million.

Lemont has a population of 16,000.

Since 2001, the Village of Lemont budget has fallen by 41.1 percent, from $23.51 million. The village population has grown 22.2 percent over the same period, from 13,098.

Salaries accounted for 42.6 percent of village spending in 2017. Lemont property taxpayers paid $5.89 million for 66 full-time employees and 35 part-time employees.

In 2001, the village had 63 full-time employees and 26 part-time employees, and spent $4.56 million.
